Animanity in Africa

A solo show of my work will open at Africa House in Lynchburg this coming July 8th  and run through August 6th, 2017. The show, titled "Animanity in Africa," will look at animals and the state of the environment in Africa, and feature my first giant canvas, entitled Feel the Burn, which explores the current war on elephants. 96 elephants die a day in Africa. This work looks at the large-scale ivory burn which took place last year in Kenya, where thousands of tons of ivory tusks confiscated from the illegal ivory trade were burned on a single day to take them off the market permanently and to show zero tolerance for the trade world-wide. The show will also feature stories of my many personal experiences caring for African animals, and will offer educational opportunities on various environmental conflicts around Africa. As always, a portion of the proceeds made from any of the paintings will go to various environmental non-profit agencies that are working on the ground in Africa to save species from extinction. The opening reception is open invitation and will take place on Saturday, July 8th from 2-5 pm. Please join me.

Art for Peace. First Friday at Yoga Goodness

This coming Friday, April 1st, my yoga studio, Yoga Goodness, in the Riverviews Artspace in downtown Lynchburg, will be having an art show about peace, inspired by our yoga practice, Members of my sangha have come together to create a show around these themes. I will have multiple paintings in the show, and there will also be a community installation of 1000 cranes, in memory of all those who lost their lives to gun violence this year, human and animal included. So come on down to Riverviews this week and join us for some food, fun, and art. We will be teaching people how to fold and string cranes, too.

Joining the Riverviews Artspace

This coming March 4th, 2016, you will be able to view my art along with all the fantastic local artists at the Riverviews Artspace Co-op Gallery. I was honored to receive an invitation to join their gallery despite the fact that I don't rent a studio in their building.  I will be joining them in all their shows in the future months. Come on down to the ground floor of Riverviews Artspace in Lynchburg on First Fridays starting in March to see what I'm up to these days. The March show will include the latest works in my 96 Elephants Project, the Masai Mara project, and a couple of my latest Animanity paintings. Hope to see you all there.
